Yazbik Wade Daw-In Memoriam
Yazbik Wade Daw, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, born May 18, 1929, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on September 10, 2011. Born in Mesa, Arizona, his family moved to El Paso, Texas where he graduated from Austin High School and attended Texas Western College. Yaz was the founder of DAW'S Home Furnishings and Thomasville of El Paso, which evolved from the original S.O.S. TV and Appliance Company. He enthusiastically served the city of El Paso and its surrounding areas for over 61 years. Yaz was involved in many organizations supporting the Catholic Diocese of El Paso where he served on the Catholic Diocese Boards of Education, Finance, Legacy Foundation, Priests Retirement and Migrant & Refugee Councils. He served the University of Texas at El Paso as a participant in the Miner Foundation, the Touchdown Club and several university development campaigns. He was recognized as grandparent of the year by the City of El Paso, a recipient of the Seed Award, given by the Catholic Diocese of El Paso, and was also named a Knight of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem, an honorable global organization of the Catholic Church to help preserve the faith in the Holy Land.
Yaz will be cherished and remembered by his loving wife, Rosie, his children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren, as well as many friends, colleagues, & employees from over the years.
Yaz's laughter and warm personality will be missed by all, especially his family and friends, as well as business acquaintances he made throughout the years. He was admired and respected for all of his accomplishments, personal and professional, and will not be forgotten.
